How one customer's find brought back fond memories
Earlier this month, we received a touching email from a customer about a special find she had while shopping that brought back memories with her late mother. Below is her story, shared with permission.
Hi! I just wanted to take a moment to tell you how much I love your cheese curds, specifically the smoked ones. When I was a little girl, my mom and I would drive 45 miles to a tiny dairy near Topeka, Kansas. There I was introduced to cheese curds. After they closed down we could not find any that reminded us of that little hometown dairy taste.
The other day I stumbled (literally stumbled) and ended up in front of the fridge that has the curds while at Menards in Topeka. I'm kinda clumsy at times.
When I looked up, the first thing I saw were the cheese curds! I opened the door and grabbed the smoked curd package. I wanted so badly to get that long ago taste knowing it probably wasn't going to happen. After all, my mom and I had tried many times to find the right taste.
I opened it in my car and took the first bite of the slightly squeaky curd. I had to close my eyes and smile and said, "Mom, I found it!!!"
It was bittersweet since I lost both of my best friends, my parents, in 2020 and 2021 after 74 years of marriage. I'm sure she got the taste even in Heaven. Your curds have made my heart happy and to think I would have missed them had I not literally stumbled onto them!
Thank you for that hometown taste that brings back some awesome memories. You nailed it!!! I have a much happier time going to that store knowing I'm going to get another package and enjoy those memories. Please let all of your staff know how much what they do means to me and I'm sure many others.
